The How's and Why's for this Website
UNLIKE MOST TUTORING SERVICES, MY OBJECTIVE IS TO HAVE YOU BECOME INDEPENDENT OF ME -
AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
I DO NOT WANT TO MAKE YOU RELIANT UPON ME -
I'D RATHER HAVE YOUR APPRECIATION AND FRIENDSHIP THAN YOUR MONEY.
The Internet has provided a world of opportunity but some technology has yet to be made available to make life
truly easy for students in rural areas and students with movement-limiting medical issues. Though people who live in areas with
large populations and major universities have access to several forms of tutoring assistance, those in smaller communities and
attending rural high schools and community colleges are often struggling to keep up and maintain higher GPA's and learn all that is
necessary to succeed in transferring to, and competing in, larger or more urban universities.
Having taught and tutored in these huge communities, I have seen many students labor because they were
missing basic concepts or had foundations that were weak. Having also taught and lived in those rural and smaller communities,
I had the opportunity to compare levels of assistance and witness, first hand, the struggles of those students.
Having worked extensively with the physically handicapped, their needs are indeed special and unique.
This tutoring web site is designed specifically to assist high school and college students who are disabled in some fashion
or are living in smaller communities who find themselves competing with more inclusive educational arenas.
As whiteboard technology and faster Internet speeds become more available, I will endeavor to make direct video and audio interaction
a priority for those students able to utilize it. At this time, the technology of faxing, scanning, e-mail attachments, and
zipped video with optional phone assistance is an easily attained reality and can be a major boon to the educational accomplishments
of students who would otherwise be left to struggle in isolation.
About the Website:
I've been criticized for not making the site "fancy" with lots of Java, Flash, Images, Entertaining Fonts, Scrolling Lines, Tables, etc.
I have a philosophy regarding this facet of web-design:
"Make the design reflect the purpose!"
My purpose?
To give you all the information without any distraction, make it as simple and understandable as possible, make it easy to find,
systematic, universal for all browsers, easy to repair, and easy to use! Also, I want to make it accessible to those with limited RAM,
ISP memory, or connection speeds. I also wanted the site to be easily repaired in case of Malware or Malicious Hacking.
For this, I decided "fancy" was not in the equation.
